Tea house trekking means staying in local lodge or hotels that offer restaurant, guest house in a single building. While trekking to Himalayas, after 5-6 hours walking on the rugged trails, you need to take a rest, eat food so tea houses provides you the full rest of day walking. Most of the popular treks in Everest, Annapurna, Langtang and Manaslu region, tea houses are common for accommodation providing you the quality sleeping and eating facilities. As much you go higher elevations, the facilities may be less as compared to low altitude. You can enjoy the local culture, festival and language during tea house trekking in Nepal.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are available in most of the tea houses. Most of the tea houses provide Dal Bhat (rice and lentils) as the major food for lunch and dinner while you will have tea, seasonal fruit juice, coffee, bread and eggs on the breakfast menu. Some of the local restaurants provide the western food such as pizza, past, burger and french fries. Soft drinks, local wine, snacks are also available in most of the tea houses.

The lodges are basic with the twin beds with a very little additional furniture. Blankets are provided in most of the lodges but carry a sleeping bag. There will be plenty of water for bathing, somewhere you can find the hot water for shower heated by using firewood and solar energy. Most bathrooms are shared and toilets are clean, somewhere the western type. The room has solar lighting in higher elevations but at lower elevations there is electricity for charging your laptops, mobile phones and cameras. A small charge may apply for this.
